What did he mean?

In a recent interview at the G20 sumit Stephen Harper said, of Canada:
"We also have no history of colonialism."
To me this seems quite racist, though perhapse he was just unclear. However there are reasons to be suspect of his motives. I've never really trusted him on issues like this for reasons such as his calling the Liberals' same-sex marriage bill "a threat to any Canadian who supports multiculturalism." Which is also the opposite of true.

Nothing left to blog about?

You put "racist" and "Harper" as your keywords. That is really taking the high road. And you are likely one of the Liberal bloggers that think drive by smears of Conservative's are all part of the sport.

What is racist are the paternalistic policies of the Indian Act and the Liberal's recent vote to squash on reserve women's family rights. Really taking the high road there too. I'm sure you're proud of those MPs.

Liberal governments have treated aboriginal people like children. Are you proud of that?

Yes, Tomm, ask Stephen Harper if Canada doesn't have a history of colonisalism, what have happened to Aboriginal People's hundreds of years of suffering in Canada?
